Motorcycle Riding Gear
Don’t Be Caught Wearing The Fool’s Gear!
If you do not have your own riding gear, our training facility will provide a DOT-approved full-face helmet, eye protection, and full-fingered gloves (full-fingered gloves may be purchased for a $5.
Note
Required Protective Gear:
Participants must provide the following gear in addition to helmets, gloves, and eye protection:
- Over-the-ankle footwear (must fully cover the ankle bone)
- Long pants (no holes, rips, or tears; no sweatpants or leggings)
- Long sleeves (shirt, sweatshirt, and/or jacket; no holes, rips, or tears)
- Rain suit (optional)
Note: All safety gear is required to participate in a rider course.
Helmet
Helmet Requirements:
Participants may use a
full-face, three-quarter, or half-helmet, as long as it is
DOT approved.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own helmet for the best fit and comfort.
- If a participant does not own a helmet, a DOT-approved full-face helmet will be provided.
Faceshield/eye Protection
Eye Protection Requirements:
- If a participant’s helmet is equipped with a faceshield, additional eye protection is not required.
- All eye protection should be clear and free of scratches, as instructors need to see your eyes for proper instruction and evaluation.
Gloves
Glove Requirements:
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves for optimal fit and comfort. Motorcycle-specific gloves are recommended but not required.
- Gloves must be full-fingered with no holes, ensuring that no part of the hands or fingers is exposed.
- If a participant does not own gloves, a set of full-fingered gloves will be provided at a $5 cost.
Jacket & Pants
Clothing Requirements:
- Long sleeves and long pants are required to participate in range exercises.
- All clothing must have no holes, rips, or tears. Sweatpants and leggings are not allowed.
- It is recommended that participants
bring multiple layers to adjust for changing weather throughout the day.
Boots
Footwear Requirements:
- Participants must wear over-the-ankle footwear to participate in range exercises.
- Boots are recommended but not required. Hi-top tennis shoes are allowed only if they fully cover the ankle bones and are padded.
- No canvas hi-tops are allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule.
