What is a Basic RiderCourse 1 (BRC1)?
Learn How to Ride a Motorcycle Safely
Never ridden before? Don’t sweat it!
The BRC1 is designed to get you comfortable on a motorcycle and give you the skills necessary to ride with confidence.
The BRC1 or Basic RiderCourse 1 is being offered to beginners and/or intermediate riders from April to October.
This course is perfect for the rider who wants to learn how to ride a motorcycle safely. Trust our experienced RiderCoaches and gain confidence in your motorcycle skills. Currently, course offerings are only on the weekends. This course is designed to teach you how to ride with little or no experience. Get expert guidance from our certified RiderCoaches during the two days of training.
More About The BRC1 – Beginner or Intermediate Class
- Two day course: Classroom is now offered online for student convenience; Range exercises are on Saturday & Sunday mornings – 7am-12:30pm or Saturday & Sunday afternoons – 1pm-6:30pm
 - In the MSF Basic online e-Course, you’ll get to know the motorcycle you’ll be riding and learn the basics of rider safety skills
 - Some of the motorcycle skills you will be learning include: accelerating, shifting, braking, turning, swerving, surmounting obstacles, as well as proper technique for taking curves, along with low-speed maneuvers like weaving and U-turns
 - It is recommended that students bring their own helmet, eye protection, and full-fingered gloves to the range to ensure proper fit and comfort. However, training helmets, eye protection, and gloves (at a cost of $5) will be available if the student is unable to provide their own.
 - Other riding gear to bring: long sleeves (shirt, sweatshirt and/or jacket), long pants (no sweatpants or leggings), and sturdy over-the-ankle footwear for the two days of range exercises.
 
You Do Not Need Your Temporary Motorcycle License Prior to Taking This Course
You will gain critical skills, procedures, techniques, and confidence in the operation of your motorcycle from our Basic RiderCourse 1.

Upon successful completion, you will be registered at WISDOT for your class M endorsement. You will also be issued an MSF Completion Card to receive insurance discounts and/or military recertification. You will not be charged again if you are not successful passing the first time! Important!
You do not need your temporary motorcycle license prior to taking our BRC1 course.
MSF’s Basic Online e-Course
- Please complete MSF’s Basic online e-Course within 30 days of taking the BRC1 course.
 - The cost of the Basic online e-Course is included in our prices.
 - After signing-up and paying for one of our classes, you will receive two separate e-mails from MSF: one with your username and a link for MSF’s online e-Course; and the second one with your password.
 - Students must bring the Basic online e-Course completion certificate to the first day of class.
