Course Policies

At KD Motorcycle Training, our goal is to provide a safe, positive learning environment for every student in the Basic RiderCourse (BRC). To keep classes running smoothly and safely, please review and follow the policies below.
1. Attendance & Punctuality
- Please arrive 10–15 minutes early for all range sessions.
- Classes must start on time.
- If you are late, you will be dropped from the class and may forfeit your registration/fee.
2. Required Riding Gear
For all riding sessions, you must be properly dressed:
- Sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear
- Heavyweight pants (denim, canvas, etc.)
- Long-sleeved shirt and/or jacket
- Helmet – DOT-compliant (you may bring your own or use one of ours)
- Eye protection – bring your own or use the ones we provide
- Gloves – full-fingered (you may purchase a pair from us for $5)
If you are not dressed properly, you will be dropped from the class.

3. Required Documents & Age Requirements
You must bring the appropriate documentation to begin class:
- Valid Driver’s License, or
- Current Motorcycle Permit, or
- Driver’s Education course completion certificate (as applicable)
- MSF Online e-Course completion certificate (for BRC1 / waiverable BRC2)
Students under 18 years of age must:
- Have a parent or legal guardian present at the first range session to sign the waiver, or
- Bring a notarized waiver signed in advance.
Failure to provide required documents may result in being unable to participate in the course.
4. Health, Rest & Hydration
- Arrive well-rested and having eaten appropriately before class.
- No formal lunch break is provided; please bring water and snacks as needed.
- Bottled water and snacks may be available for a small fee.

5. Course Expectations & Successful Completion
We will make every effort to help you succeed, but:
- Not every student successfully completes the course.
- If you are unable to meet exercise objectives or become a safety risk to yourself or others, a RiderCoach may counsel you out of the course.
- There is no guarantee that you will pass the course.
MSF Online e-Course
- Successful completion of the MSF Online e-Course is mandatory in Wisconsin for BRC1 and waiverable BRC2 students.
- If you do not pass on the first attempt, you will be given multiple opportunities to retest (up to six times).
Riding Skills Evaluation
- You may accumulate no more than 16 points to pass the Riding Skills Evaluation.
- If you do not pass the first time, you may be given one additional opportunity to retake the evaluation, at the Site Coordinator’s discretion.
- Only two total attempts are allowed for the Riding Skills Evaluation.
Course Completion & Licensing
Upon successful completion of all course requirements:
- You will receive an MSF Completion Card.
- This card may be presented at the DMV as proof of successful completion of a BRC1 or BRC2 Licensing Skills test (per state regulations).
6. Cancellation & Reschedule Policy
As outlined in our Terms & Conditions:
- KD Motorcycle Training, LLC must receive cancellation or reschedule requests at least seven (7) calendar days before the start of your scheduled class.
- Cancellations made 7+ days in advance:
- Incur a $50 processing fee.
- Refunds are issued in the same form as the original payment (e.g., credit back to the same card) and processed within five business days.
- Rescheduling:
- May be requested 7+ days before your scheduled class.
- Is based on space availability; we cannot guarantee a specific new date.
- Approved reschedules incur a $25 non-refundable administrative fee.
- If your scheduled class is less than 7 days away, please do not call to cancel or reschedule.
- If you do not attend your scheduled class and have not cancelled or rescheduled per policy, you forfeit your registration and registration fee.

7. Retest & “Counseled-Out” Policy
Retesting – e-Course & Riding Skills
- MSF Online e-Course:
- Students who fail the e-Course may retest as many times as necessary until they pass.
Riding Skills Evaluation:
- Students who fail the Riding Skills Evaluation may be given one opportunity to retake the full evaluation at the discretion of the RiderCoach/Site Coordinator.
- Instructions and scheduling for retesting will be provided by your RiderCoach.
- Retest opportunities are provided at no additional cost.
Being Counseled-Out
Learning to ride a motorcycle is both mentally and physically demanding. If, in the judgment of the RiderCoach:
- You are unable to demonstrate sufficient control or skill, or
- You pose a danger to yourself or others,
you may be counseled out of the course and asked to return at a later date when you are better prepared. This opportunity to return is provided at no additional cost.
