Frequently Asked Questions

 

Do I need to have a motorcycle temporary license?

No, a temporary license is not required prior to taking the course.  However, completion of the temps test is required prior to receiving a class “M” endorsement from DMV.  Participant may choose to take the temps test either prior to taking the course or after completing the course.  Please note:  If you choose to take a BRC course prior to taking the temps test, the temps test fee is waived. However, if you choose to take the temps test prior to taking a BRC course you will be charged for your temps license.  This fee can be anywhere between $30 and $40.

What gear do I need? 

All participants will need to wear footwear that covers their ankle, long sleeved shirt and long pants with no holes; a rain suit is optional.  If you do not own or possess the following safety gear, these items will be provided by our school:  helmet, eye protection and full-fingered gloves.

What happens to range classes when bad weather occurs?

Rain or shine; we meet & ride.  If thunder is heard or lightning is observed or any other severe weather conditions exist or are imminent, all range activities shall immediately seize and all participants shall seek shelter.  It is possible that a class may need to be rescheduled due to weather and/or other factors.

How does KD Motorcycle Training's fees compare to others?

KD's fees are not only comparable, but are lower than the average ($350) of other providers/schools in the state.  In comparison to the technical colleges in the area, KD's fees are also lower than these schools.  Other perks offered to our students by KD Motorcycle Training are:  a $25 gift certification to a local motorcycle dealership; a discount certificate to a second local motorcycle dealership.

At what age can I enroll in a BRC course?

Students may enroll in a BRC at age 15 ½; and, no Drivers License or Drivers License Temps is required to enroll; however, students will need to acquire a Drivers License or a Temporary Drivers License prior to submitting the MOTORCYCLE WAVIER (issued by KD Motorcycle Training) to the DMV.

Do I need a motorcycle license to legally operate my scooter?

Anyone operating a scooter with an engine size larger than 49½ cc must acquire a motorcycle license.
